ATLANTA - There are times, if your fingers do the walking in Georgia, they’ll get blisters — big ones.
“Customer service. This is Rachel. How can I assist you?”
Where’s her southern accent?
“We’re not authorized to give out that information,” Rachel added.
Truth be told, NBC’s call to the Georgia food stamp office was answered in India — as in the country of some 9,000 miles away.
With employment first on the country’s worry list, politicians are taking aim at the outsourcing of jobs to foreign countries.
Yet somehow liberals and democrats think we need an additional 10,000 illegal immigrants a day walking into the south west because we need them to fill jobs Americans "won't" work. Huh? But but but...the article? *points up* What about that? Gotta love their logic, or lack there of. When will they learn?
What does that have to do with anything? You're the illogical one.
Quite simple really. I have been anti-third world immigrantion for non-English speaking people for many years. Yet many liberals and democrats say "We need these people because there are jobs that need to be filled that American's "won't" work. But I say that's not true and we have too many people in American and not enough jobs. We certianly don't need 10,000 unskilled non-English speaking people crossing the South West border a day but I have people argue with me on that point.
Now we have this article. Saying how many low paying, unskilled jobs are moving overseas so other foreigners can work these jobs. Regardless of this article, you should be aware how many jobs have been lost since 9/11.
To put in even simpler terms.
Losing jobs + More people = Very bad.
I'm one of the few that see the big picture. If we continue down the same path we are going down now, the hispanic population will become the majority sometime in 2025ish. That's a solid fact. Look it up on htttp://www.census.gov. Or search Google. I remember seeing a few news stories as well.
Most of those hispanics won't be of the "rich, English speaking kind" either. You will now have the minority of the populaton paying for the majority and that's when America will fall (or a few years before that) as well with the rest of the world. I know you will be happy, but some people won't be.
Why does it matter who ships jobs where? Conservaties, liberals, democrats, republicans --- it's happening. That's all I care and that's all you should care about too.
And you're right, wetbacks flooding into the country couldn't get these job because they don't speak English. Yet someone NINE-THOUSAND miles away in ANOTHER country can do it because they CAN speak English. You wonder why I am also for making English the offical language here in the States. You wonder why...
Unemployment is still high, ecnomony is still in rough shape, manufacturing jobs are moving out of the country, businesses are setting up their HQ in the Caribbean so they don't have to pay taxes, state and government taxes continue to rise, and yet some people argue with me we need 10,000 illegal unskilled immigrants flooding the southwest a day. Just doesn't make sense to me.
You're over-simplifying it, and you are mixing two separate issues. Unemployment is high, and outsourcing is a problem, but there ARE jobs in the Southwest (and other areas of the country, as well, all in specific industries) that the average American does NOT want to take -- like fruit pickers, hotel maids, gardeners and nannies to the wealthy, etc. There are others that I've heard about in the media that I can't remember off the top of my head. I don't necessarily think that importing non-English speaking immigrants to take those jobs is the solution, but try telling your typical out-of-work American that if he wants to work, he's going to have to go apply at the local Days Inn or move to Texas and pick fruit. Probably not going to go over very well.
as a liberal i dont think that. its funny that thats actually bush's position on immigration reform.
i'm in arizona. ten minutes from the border. we DEFINITELY do not need more immigrants.
